How to form roman numbers
We can form roman numbers by adding the symbols.
1. Add symbol after a larger (or equal) symbol
Example: VII = V + I + I = 5 + 1 + 1 = 7
Example: LXV = L + X + V = 50 + 10 + 5 = 65
2. Subtract symbol if the symbol appears before a larger symbol
Example: IV = V − I = 5 − 1 = 4
Example: IX = X − I = 10 − 1 = 9
