What is the Perimeter of a Rectangle?
The perimeter of a rectangle is equal to the total length of the boundary.
Let ABCD be a rectangle whose length be l and breadth be b.
Perimeter = Length of the boundary
= AB + BC + CD + DA
= 2 x AB + 2 x BC
= 2 ( AB + BC )
= 2( length + breadth)
Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(l + b) unit
Rectangular Perimeter Formula
Examples: Find the Perimeter of Rectangle
(a) l = 38 m and b = 22 m
Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(l + b) = 2( 38 + 22)
= 2(60) = 120 m.
(b)bl = 30 m and b = 20 m
Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(l + b) = 2( 30 + 20)
= 2(50) = 100 m.
