Predecessor: As we understand that predecessor suggests before number. There are two ways to find before number.
1) Start the counting numbers and stop at the number up to which you have to reach the before number.
Examples of Predecessor:
Discover the before number of 8.
Say 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 so before 8 we said 7 so 7 is the predecessor of 8.
2) If you want to find the predecessor of the given number then decrease 1 from the given number.
Example :
1) Predecessor of 8 is 8 -1 = 7
2) Predecessor of 12 is 12 – 1 = 12
3) Predecessor of 21 is 21 -1 = 20
Note: There is no predecessor of the whole number 0.
Successor: There are two techniques to get the successor of the given number.
1) Start the counting numbers and stop at that number which is you provide. The next coming number is the successor of the given number.
Example: Determine the successor of 13.
Start 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 and then the next number is 14. So 14 number is the successor of 13 numbers.
2) For large numbers the successor is the number obtained by adding 1 to it.
Example :
a) The successor of 15 is 15 + 1= 16.So 16 is the successor of 15.
b) The successor of 18 is 18 + 1 = 19.
c) Successor of 8 is 8 + 1 = 9
d) Successor of 55 is 55 + 1= 56.
