There are three main functions that you have to used in trigonometry and these are called Sine, Cosine, and Tangent. These functions encapsulate the relationships between angles and sides in right-angled triangles, offering a profound understanding of geometry and enabling sophisticated mathematical modeling. All these trig functions are based on a Right-Angled Triangle. In this article, we will help you to memorize all of them easily.
Right Triangle
Before learning the trigonometry functions, we point out the name to each side of a right triangle :
Sine, Cosine and Tangent
Sine (often shortened to sin) is the ratio of the opposite side of the triangle to the hypotenuse.
Cosine (often shortened to cos) is equal to the adjacent over the hypotenuse.
Similarly, the tangent (often shortened to tan) is equal to the opposite side over the adjacent.
After learning these trigonometric functions (Graphs and Examples) proceed on to find out more about the trig ratio.
